Meet your creative potential…
Next start date: 6.00pm Tuesday 5th February
Lecturer: Andy Layne
Duration: 3 hours
Andy Layne is an educator, designer and seamstress with over 10 years experience in the fashion industry. He lectures and conducts workshops in the United Kingdom, Germany and Denmark. In addition to his academic commitments, he has worked as fitter for COS and House of Devon by Beyoncé. With a speciality in drawing methods, styling and customisation he is a valued addition to the Blake College creative team.
His Fashion Design Workshop will give you a broad overview of the current trends and demands of working in the industry. Andy will begin with a lecture about the career paths available for graduates and share his personal insights. Then the practical elements of the workshop will focus around shoe customisation. As a group you will discuss and brainstorm design ideas. You will be shown how to develop these from an initial concept to working sketch and final portfolio piece. Using your sketches as inspiration, you will customise a pair of canvas shoes with painting and sewing techniques.
Whatever your interest in fashion, Andy's workshop is guaranteed to develop your creativity and inspire you to push your professional practice forwards.
